Ongemang (“On-Je-Mang”) – Exploring the Spaces in Between

The word Ongemang comes from the Old English which combines the words for “in” and “mingling.”  It has been described as the “Exploring the spaces in between”.   We felt like this was the perfect expression to describe our very first blended wine grape sour.

Our 2021 Ongemang is a blend of our Viognier and Petite Sirah grapes.

Viognier grape hast the scent of Honeysuckle and Jasmine and the rich flavors of Apricot and Peach.  Ripening in warm sunshine, this beer is quite heady and exotic with spicy undertones of Gingerbread and plenty of body.

Petit Sirah grape has a deep color violet color and bold tannins.  Fruit is the dominant flavor with Plum and Blueberry being the most distinct. Additional flavors are Dark Chocolate, Pepper, and Black Tea.

We placed these grapes on our golden ale that aged in oak barrels for 12 months.  The beer then undergoes a secondary fermentation on our blend of wine grapes. The wild yeast from the grape skins adds an extra level of funk and flavor.

This is our first blended wine beer latest beers in our ever-growing Wine Grape sour series.
